Which Polisher Do I Need?

Shurhold now has several powerful tools you can use to compound, polish, and wax your ride with. We have the original Dual Action Polisher, the Dual Action Polisher Pro, and the Rotary Pro tool. Which tool is right for your boat, car, or RV? Is one better than the other? What follows is a breakdown of each tool so you can make the right choice for your next project.

    • Dual Action Polisher

The original machine in our lineup, the Dual Action Polisher is a great tool for safely and easily removing oxidation or applying a coat of wax. The machine’s action, an oscillating motion, keeps the pad cooler which in turn keeps your paint safe. The tools light weight keeps you from straining on longer jobs. Its small pad diameter lets you get into tight areas and work through body lines. Additionally, this machine has more attachments than our other two machines, including brushes for non-skid and Magic Wool pads to polisher solid glass. A great starter tool!

    • Dual Action Polisher Pro
      Dual Action Polisher Pro
The Pro is a larger, more specialized version of the original Dual Action Polisher. It works using the same oscillating motion but can cut through a little heavier oxidation with it's higher torque and OPM. The PRO also has an impressive 21mm orbit, which means you can cover a little under three times the surface area per oscillation compared to the original Dual Action Polisher. That means it's perfect for working on large, flat surfaces like the hull of a boat or flat car panels. The machine is well balanced and suited for a professional detailer or skilled enthusiast.

    • Rotary Pro
      Pro Rotary Polisher
The Rotary Pro is a different tool than our Dual Action Polishers as the pad simply rotates with this machine. A rotating pad will be the most effective at removing oxidation, scratches, and defects. Be aware, the rotating motion will create much more heat than our Dual Action Tools. You should constantly keep the pad moving and balanced while using it. If you don’t, you can damage the surface you’re trying to improve. You should have experience with a rotary tool before using the PRO on your project. With that said, there is no better way to quickly remove oxidation and leave a brilliant shine!
