2nd Annual Class Field Trip from 1st Grade Students
Recently, about 30 first grade students in South Florida got an inside look at how Shurhold runs both its factory and its office. The students spent about 2 hours at the facility learning everything from how Shurhold products are made to how they are marketed. The staff did a great job at welcoming these students and teaching them about their own job function within the company.
The students were broken up into four groups that spent 20 minutes at each of the four major parts of the Shurhold operation. In production, they learned about team work on a production line. They each learned their part and helped produce the soft blue Shurhold brushes. In warehousing, they learned about keeping the factory organized and using computers and machines to help in the process; they even had a pallet stacking race. In shipping, each student got the chance to use wireless, handheld scanners to pick a sales order. They then packed, weighed and shipped that order. Then, in marketing / advertising, they each got a chance to create a magazine ad.
Both the students and the Shurhold staff had a great time during this visit!
