Learn How to Repack Your Inflatable Life Jackets!
Team Shurhold has another great Clean-N-Simple boating tip for you! Check out how we repack our Mustang Survival Inflatable Life Jackets, along with how they fit into our Coast Guard required safety gear.
Every boat is required to have enough Coast Guard approved flotation devices for everyone on board, with larger vessels also requiring a throwable PFD. For the full list of regulations, you can read the Coast Guard requirements here.
Generally, Inflatable Life Jackets need to be worn to be counted towards the required number of PFD's onboard. Keep that in mind when getting your boat ready. Inflatable Jackets have a number of benefits, including automatic deployment once submerged. While arguably a much better life saving device, they do need to be maintained when the charge on their hydrostatic valve expires.
We wanted to demonstrate that process to make sure you could do it to. For a full how-to, watch the video above and learn that the process is actually pretty simple. Now you can save some money and repack the jackets yourself!
Until next time, Shurhold is here to help keep your boat Clean-N-Simple!
Note: When repacking these lifejackets, be sure to leave the yellow manual pull tab exposed when rebuilding the jacket.
